Halloween Kills – 2021

Synopsis

The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode continues in the next thrilling chapter of the Halloween series.

Michael Myers is at it again. Gotta love someone who has this much dedication to their craft. The biggest thing for me with this “universe” of Myers films is that I have to forget the other 99 Halloween movies exists.

But overall, this is a kill and gore fest delight. Once again, this movie picks up where the previous Halloween (2018) left off. In this new take on things, Myers is just a serial killer doing what he does. So fast forward to this film and we find Laurie in the hospital with her daughter by her side.

They are relishing in the fact that they killed Myers. However, as the scene eventually pans over to the burning house, we learn that he is not dead. Surprise, yeah no. Spoiler alert! Michael then proceeds to slaughter every fire fighter available. Now, some people had a huge problem with this. There is only one thing to say. This is what Myers does. From there, the slasher goes slashing through the neighborhood while locals at the bar reminisce.

We get a number of throwbacks in this film. A few of the original cast from the 1978 version are included and it was nice to revisit them. Also, we get to see Tommy Doyle as a grown man who tells his story. I feel like the story lines from the surviving characters helps to build the upcoming drama in the movie. Before it’s over, there is a mob after Myers and in some small way you wonder, is this the end for him.

With any movie, you either love it or hate it. It’s a movie. It’s meant for escape purposes and fun. It’s definitely worth a watch. You can make up your own mind about the rest. 😉
