Horror film review – Gravis Terrae directed by Emir Skalonja – A poetical horror piece.

GRAVIS TERRAE

Gravis Terrae is a poetical horror piece.
In this film, don’t look for a stereotypical horror thread with scare jumps and lights going off when the music reaches its climax.

This is… a work of love. Love for horror. Our protagonist goes through a trip of horrific transformation. Hundreds are the readings you can build from the story Skalonja pours on your hands.
A tale of nature taking its revenge? A wrong-place wrong-time unlucky gal? An alien root carving its way through human beings?

This girl’s life is already broken, and she obsesses over this strange, disturbing root thingy she found in the woods. Casualty? Chance? Luck? Who knows.

This is a piece to enjoy slowly. The music, the sounds, the beautiful work of the actress. The forest, the palpitations, the moss, the humidity…

Emir Skalonja is already one of my favourite horror creators. Writer, filmmaker, musician. I encourage everyone interested in deep horror to check out his work and to just enjoy the sensorial world he creates just, for you.
Congrats on this one. A different, poetical, even theatrical horror little tale.

Also, did you know that GRAVIS TERRAE is also the name of Skalonja’s black metal band? Check them out:
