Hate is Poison
It seeps in and colours your blood
Turning it putrid
Slowly it feeds
On uncertainties and life
It clouds your mind
A fog that smells of sulphur
Until it becomes natural
As much a part of you
As your bones
You defend it
Like a mother does her child
Standing between It
and Everyone Else
Terrified that someone
Somehow
Will rip it from you
And hold it up for you to see
It’s not a mirror that you want to acknowledge
But it is one that you reflect
So
Go ahead
Take a look
What do you see?
And what will you do?
