a misshaped picture
a puzzle
you force down pieces
until they fit
you’re an optical illusion
but your edges will cut
if they come too close
so they view you from a distance
you feel trapped
between the safety
of loneliness
and the danger
of solace
how long will it be
before you can see yourself
as they do?
