DARK POETRY – “The Caretaker” by Tina McFarlane

– for Mar

It’s souls that she tends
Lost and broken
Treats them with the same kindness
that she gives to the beautiful flowers
which grow in her garden

Here they can heal
Their cracks mend
until they can once again move and bend
to the weight of time and the world

When they are freed
they fly and soar
like the doves
that call to her each morning

She will only keep these souls
for as long as they need to stay
and in her own quiet way
will weep tears of bittersweet
that they will never know

For now their burdens
have become a part of her garden
planted in the ground
amongst those beautiful flowers

And with kindness and care
will one day break through
and join the others
in bloom

Thank you so much Tina, the honour is all mine to have met you all, and to have the opportunity to share your work. (Mar Garcia — Owner of TBM Horror Experts)
