Book review – SUNSET SAFARI by Roma Gray – You better have a good stomach because the bloody scenes are… well, not for the weak hearts!!!

There is one thing I appreciate about Roma Gray, and it’s her shuddering style. I’m that kind of reader who gets bored with endless descriptions, and she just runs (in a positive way) through scenes. Using scenario jumps she narrates you five stories at once. You don’t know which one is happening first or final, actually. This fact adds intrigue to the storyline.

Alright, we start with a heartbeating, run-towards-death scene. I couldn’t put it down. She surprises you on each paragraph.

I must admit I have always been in love with Gray’s traditional style, but she doesn’t disappoint on this racing zombie hunt one.

The main “villain” character, Monty, is the one sewing all the thread together. I loved him, really. That “Jamaican accent guy”, becoming the glue of the book.

You feel… hatred about the fate of the characters. She has no mercy. Roma Gray is an excellent storyteller. And a heartbreaker.

I liked how Jason never dares to tell his girlfriend the visions he suffers and at the same time, he feels she is only with him because of her traumas.

I loved how all the “tested by the Nymza” characters are strong and fight until the end. The thought they were “worth it”. I think much of the strength of the book remains in that fact.

Were they worth the sacrifice? Were they not? Did their last effort redeem them? If they become an undead creature as well… are we all condemned?

Distracted tourists led to annihilation. The thread is complicated, which makes it different from other zombie stories.

Summarizing, Roma Gray does not disappoint. She is a consolidated “rock-author”, as I like to say. She is one of the writers you go to when you need a good read.

This book… is a zombie one. Yes. Like many others? Not in my opinion:  sadness, disappointment, sorrow… hope?

Ah, find it out by yourself.

I just can tell you —Roma Gray delivers. This book has an intricate thread only a good writer could sew.

I’m not especially a zombie lover, and I enjoyed this book so I would certainly recommend it to any horror fan. I must say though, you better have a good stomach because the bloody scenes are… well, not for the weak hearts!!!
