“Urban Horror” for global distribution, just ahead of this week’s FilMart in Hong Kong.

The series, a portion of which debuted at the Kaohsiung Film Festival in October last year, is a collaborative effort presented by KOKO Entertainment, HIM Inc., and My Story Entertainment, with production handled by COSPM Films. Anticipated finalization is slated for the summer months. “Urban Horror” will be available for distribution in Taiwan through Catchplay, both as a streamer and distributor, and internationally through Screenworks Asia.

Screenworks Asia, based in Taipei, has acquired the rights to the groundbreaking anthology series “Urban Horror” for global distribution, just ahead of this week’s FilMart in Hong Kong.

Helmed by directors Lee Chun-Hong (“Mom, Don’t Do That!”), Chen Bao-Zhong, and Huang Dan-Chi, a cadre of young and promising filmmakers, “Urban Horror” features 34 concise episodes exploring the enigmatic, the inexplicable, and the eerie.

Set within six contemporary urban landscapes, including nightclubs, office towers, and youth hostels, typically devoid of supernatural elements, the series creatively juxtaposes the mundane with the macabre. This deliberate choice of locales also facilitates the repackaging of the 34 shorts into six extended episodes.

Each installment introduces recognizable faces from various realms of entertainment, ranging from acclaimed actors to music idols and online sensations. Notable cast members include Austin Lin (star of Taiwan’s Oscar submission “Marry My Dead Body”), Ann Hsu (“The Victims’ Game”), Fu Meng-Po (“Taiwan Crime Stories”), and Esther Liu (“Light the Night”).
