The Nightgown: CD Soundtrack Review By Matt Boiselle

Composed by: Seth Metoyer

A short time ago I had the pleasure of reviewing Jared Masters’ possession thriller THE NIGHTGOWN, and thanks to Seth Metoyer, who composed the music for the film, I was graciously gifted a CD copy of the soundtrack for listening enjoyment…and review purposes as well. Step on inside this formerly sealed tomb of souls and let’s crank up the unholy cacophony that’s been bestowed upon us all!

Worded by Metoyer himself “the album features a plethora of dark strings, brooding synthesizers, dark ambiance, and experimental 70’s music. An eclectic ride through the haunting realm of director Jared Masters’ movie, The Nightgown.” From the first track of this beauty, titled ‘You Let God Out’, I was hooked – the name alone of this cut summed up the film in one glorious statement, and the hits did not stop there, ghouls & ghoulettes! With 14 pieces in all, this soundtrack spits out nightmarish tones with appellations such as ‘Nocturnal Exorcism’, ‘Satanic Illusion’, & ‘Trapped In A Horrid Dream’ just to name a few.

You can either choose the route of using this soundtrack as a compilation piece to the film itself, or crank up the speakers this Halloween and fuel the frights…maybe even piss off the neighbors! Metoyer’s blend of musical mastery gives this collection life, then crushes it under a very sizeable amplifier, then reanimates it, and finally serves it up to the hungry undead. I’ve spun this through on my audio setup numerous times in just the short spell that I’ve had it, and it’ll firmly stand a place in my terrifying tunes playlist. It’s now available at brokencurfewrecords.bandcamp.com, so get your mangy carcasses on over and pick yourselves up a copy!

At the tender age of 6, Matt was indoctrinated into the horror genre by his mother, who asked him to sit down and watch "The Exorcist" with her - ever since then, it's been a blood-soaked, neon-lit, fever dream of an existence. "You don't make horror...horror makes you."

(Can't remember who came up with this quote, but he was probably off-kilter like I am).
