Tailor Swift’s declarations  “I was born on the 13th, I turned 13 on Friday the 13th, my first album went gold in 13 weeks. Also, my first song that ever went number 1, it had a 13 second intro, I didn’t even do that on purpose!” got to The Exorcist’s producer’s ears!

In light of this announcement, Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions, and Morgan Creek Entertainment have opted to shift the release date of their movie “The Exorcist: Believer” by one week from its original October 13th release date. This strategic move is aimed at avoiding a head-to-head clash with Taylor Swift during its opening weekend. As a result, “The Exorcist: Believer” is set to hit theaters on October 6th.

Universal and Peacock secured the distribution rights to this trilogy with a substantial investment, estimated to be around $400 million. Given this significant financial commitment, their strategic decision to steer clear of competing releases is quite understandable, as they aim to maximize their return on investment. It’s worth noting that the next installment in the series, titled “The Exorcist: Deceiver,” is already slated to hit theaters on April 18, 2025.

After completing a successful trilogy of Halloween sequels, which included “Halloween” (2018), “Halloween Kills,” and “Halloween Ends,” director David Gordon Green is now collaborating once again with Universal and Blumhouse. This time, they are embarking on a new trilogy of sequels to the iconic 1973 film, “The Exorcist,” commencing with “Believer.” Green, along with his creative partners Danny McBride (who co-wrote all three new Halloween films), and Scott Teems (co-writer of “Halloween Kills”), conceived the storyline for this project. The screenplay for “Believer” was brought to life through the collaborative efforts of David Gordon Green and Peter Sattler, known for “Broken Diamonds.”
