The Story

Spirit Board: Doorway to Death will be a supernatural slasher film based on the 2020 short film of the same name. The film is about a group of friends who play with a spirit board and accidently conjure the ghost of a long dead serial killer. The friends and their partners are hunted down by this violent specter!

My name is Shawn Wright. I’m a Maryland based writer, director, producer. This will be my second feature film and fourth film overall. All of my films so far have been completely self financed. I love horror films, especially those made in the 80s and earlier. I make my films with love and a passion for the genre. I need your help to make my next film a reality!

Spirit Board is based on my second short film. I love this short film and I’m very excited to bring the story to a feature length format. I’ve put together a great cast to bring this story to life. With a decent budget I can create an excellent old school supernatural slasher. I can do a lot with a small amount of money. I’m a DIY indie guy. I don’t need a bloated budget to make a great film. All of my budget will go on screen and will help to support my amazing cast and crew.

The majority of the funds would go towards both special effects and locations. I’m committed to using 100% practical effects. You will get lots of creative, gory kills. You will also get a very cool and creepy ghost killer. He will haunt your dreams! I need your support so I can bring my grizzly ideas to life. With the help of award winning FX artist Joe La Scola, you will see an amazing film in a similar style of Fulci’s The Beyond with shades of The Evil Dead. I will bring you authentic and lived in locations. The main house location will double as room and board for cast and crew.

The rest of the budget will go towards props, feeding the cast and crew, as well as making sure my talented cast are very well paid! Your support means everything to me and my crew. We need it in order to make the best film possible.

I have listed many great perks for my supporters. Blu-Rays, posters, DVDs, and digital downloads will all be available. You can get a craft services credit by sponsoring lunch for a day. We’ll have producer credits available. You’ll have the chance to get your picture in the film and even your voice. There will be opportunities to get your brand featured somewhere in the film.
