Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has launched his own horror production company: BerserkerGang

Saul Hudson, well-known “Slash”, creator of Welcome to the Jungle and guitarist of epic Guns N’ Roses, together with Michael Paszt, James Fler and Andrew T. Hunt of Raven Banner, Rodrigo Gudino of Rue Morgue magazine, and Pasha Patriki of Hangar 18 Media (producer) have launched a new producing company. A horror one.

The announcement came through Variety.

“I’ve always been a huge horror fan, especially going back to the days when horror movies actually scared the hell out of you.”

“I want to get into the heart of the producing business so I can try and make movies that I’d like to see.”

‘The Breach’ will be their first creation, which we’ll be able to watch later this 2023.

“The aim of BerserkerGang will be quality over quantity. We will be selectively choosing projects that we collectively feel best represent the brand.” (Andrew T. Hunt)

“Our goal is to develop projects with filmmakers and writers who are just as passionate about genre films as we are.” (Michael Paszt)

“The company slogan is ‘Films Forged in Fury,’ if that’s any indication of where we plan on venturing.” (Rodrigo Gudino)

This is not his first steps into the filming industry since he already produced ‘Nothing Left to Fear’ and ‘This Is Not a Movie’ about ten years ago. Another interesting fact you might not know, is that you can hear a song in ‘Jackie Brown’ (Quentin Tarantino 1997) by Slash’s Snakepit, a supergroup including members of Guns N’ Roses and Alice in Chains which he founded and dismembered due to the members not being committed enough.

About his next release The Breach, he said “I’m an old-school sort of horror fan.”

The film premiered at Canada’s Fantasia Film Festival in July 2022

“We’ve been using Lovecraftian kind of references on this, but it definitely has sort of a slow burn, sort of 70s aesthetic, and there was a suspense thing because you really don’t know what the f*** is going on until the last act. It’s the kind of thing where, for me, it’s more cerebral than it is just everything, you know, spilled out onto the screen. He knows my style, so he knew I would dig it.”

He added on the MovieMaker Podcast:

“Being that I’m a guitar player and sort of recognized for doing sort of loud, boisterous, hard rock stuff, that does not hardly ever apply when I’m writing something for a movie,”

“Usually, every script I’ve written sort of pulls me in another direction. That being said, you can have a rock song in a movie, and that’s great. But as far as the actual score is concerned, it can be something that’s super, super light, or it can be a lot of you know, stand-up bass and cello.”

On a sidenote, he himself with Guns N’ Roses and Arctic Monkeys will join Elton John in headlining this year’s Glastonbury event, if you want to check the line-up out, here you go.
