Los Angeles, CA – Most people who have heard of Joshua Millican know him as the Editor-in-Chief of Dread Central between 2019 and 2021. All that changed in 2022 with the release of his first novel, Deeper Than Hell, a transgressive horror Mick Garris (Sleepwalkers, Masters of Horror) called “a drug-fueled nightmare… not for the faint of heart!”

Septum, Millican’s follow up to Deeper Than Hell, is now available via most online booksellers and in many indie bookstores.

In Septum

One woman’s quest to join an esoteric pain cult operating below the city of Las Vegas has earth-shattering ramifications. Guided by visions and a cast of potentially nefarious characters, Sybil transforms her mind and body in an effort to cross impossible thresholds. Enlightenment and physical oblivion walk hand-in-hand.

Septum is not a sequel; it’s a Paraquel: A story that takes place simultaneously with a certain other story.

“You don’t have to read Deeper Than Hell in order to dive right into Septum,” the author explains. “They were both written to stand on their own. Of course, those who read both books will have a much better understanding of the world I’ve created.”

Deeper Than Hell performed amazingly well, especially for a first-time novelist,” says Sean Duregger, Managing Editor of Encyclopocalypse Publications. “We were thrilled when Joshua approached us about continuing his shocking saga. I’m tempted to say that Septum is even better!”

Early reviews have been outstanding.

“Joshua Millican paints a vivid picture in this story that keeps you turning the pages. I mean, pain, hallucinations, body mods, a whole underground world, strange characters, murder, Clive Barker, thrills and twists, what more can you ask for?” A recent Goodreads Review states.

Duncan Ralston, the author of Woom and other works of extreme horror writes, “A literal descent into the depths of pain and obsession, the scope of imagination in Septum – with its shades of dark fantasy filtered through a psychedelic Timothy Leary lens – proves Joshua Millican a worthy successor to the master himself, Clive Barker.”

Encyclopocalypse Publications was founded in 2020 by Hellraiser: The Toll author Mark Alan Miller. The independent publisher has already established itself as a destination imprint with an impressive library of novelizations, fiction, and non-fiction. Authors on their roster also include: Mick Garris, Peter Atkins, and John Penny.

Millican is also the author of The Dreadful Years, a collection of interviews and reflections from his time at Dread Central. All of his books can now be purchased at Encyclopocalypse.com!
