DARK POETRY ~ “Robber” by Tina McFarlane

I was drowning, I couldn’t breathe
I was Lost, my mind wasn’t Me

What was it that I had wanted?
What did I truly seek?
Before You
Was there ever a Me?

Is this where the romance began?
The stealing of my Spirit
Forcing your way into my home
And I let you do it

Taking something that wasn’t Yours
And leaving nothing that was Mine
As hours turned to years
My will fell in line

All in the name of Love
That vicious four-letter word
Intoxicating in its poison
It drained me of my Nerve

In time, I’ve come to understand
You can fool me no more
What you called Love, was just Control
This Bitch isn’t taking it anymore

And I hope when you find another
She gives you more than you came for
