MyIndie Review Vlog Episode 2: Red Krokodil by director Domiziano Cristopharo

Official description

Red Krokodil tells the story of a man who, almost as a synecdoche, is meant to represent an ordinary man, or perhaps all men. It is the story of a man addicted to Krokodil that suddenly finds himself alone in a post-nuclear city similar to Chernobyl. His physical decay caused by the massive intake of drugs develops parallel to his inner world, as reality mixes with his hallucinations. The result is a film that uses the Krokodil as a metaphor of destruction.

I found this review VERY interesting. Asaf Angel explains it took him a while to figure out how to express the message of the director, Domiziano Cristopharo. I have quoted a couple of sentences from his video that I won’t forget:

“How do you shoot internal conflict? How do you shoot a thought or a state of mind or express complex emotions which you can’t see? That makes the film unusual in the way it conveys its message.”

“The film depicts factual elements from humanity’s dark side with the purpose of casting judgement of the whole mankind.”
