Which one was the first piece you wrote?

The first book I ever wrote was a fantasy sci-fi novel inspired by a dream, dungeons and dragons, and the hobbit. I was twelve years old at the time, although the first story I remember writing was in second grade, a short story about a second grader who brings her hamster to school and the hamster escapes. Fast forward ten years later when the girl returns to the school and the hamster, who has been surviving on crayons for ten years, has grown to a monstrous size and begins terrorizing the kids. But all he wants to do is go home.

Can you describe your book in a couple of lines?

My newest release, The Rose Vol. 1 is a dystopian science fiction thriller with a tinge of horror – well maybe more than a tinge. The story begins at the very end of WW3 and follows an unsuspecting WW3 survivor, Sandy Cox, who wakes up in an underground medical complex and discovers the existence of an alien species, Dracs, who have conspired with elite human beings in an effort to turn the human population into easily controlled zombies. The Dracs, commonly referred to as the Alien Vampires, are conducting genetic experimentation on the human population with the help of telekinetic grey aliens.

What is the book you always keep close, and why?

Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea in its original format first published in LIFE Magazine. Hemingway was my man in my early twenties. I respect his writing style and the man himself, The Old Man and the Sea being one of my favourite Hemingway stories. My family used to refer to me as Hemingway. I look at the magazine often as a tell tale sign that no matter what age you are or where you are in your career you can pump out a fantastic piece of literature.

Do you have an inspiration source?

Nostalgia. When I’m feeling uninspired a quick fix is to watch an old movie or pick up an old book to get back into the creative process, allowing the juices to flow and an opportunity to reconnect with that creative itch I’ve had all my life. Also, weather and the seasons help as well, or just living inside of a memory where the creative process was flowing.

What is the best and the worst of the writing-publishing a book?

Best: Everything. Worst: Saying goodbye and hoping, wishing, manifesting, the story takes on a new life with readers.

What are your current projects?

Jigglyspot and the Zero Intellect is a horror novel inspired by cosmic horror, the old Pulp Fiction stories, and the grindhouse horror movies in the seventies. Jigglyspot is the new clown in town, a half human half warlock midget alien pimp, serial killer, and all around bad guy who is tasked with overseeing the cannibalistic summer solstice celebration where up and coming actors and people of social influence are indoctrinated into a demonic cult from Xibalba.

Which kind of music do you listen to?

I’m a classic rock type of guy. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Rolling Stones, Janice Joplin, The Beatles and then of course I’ve got to add in my grunge roots, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, and Rage Against the Machine to name a few. I also dig classical music, bluegrass jazz, and big band music.

Who is your favourite character of yours?

Sanos is the villain you love to hate. Sanos is the leader of the Drac military faction tasked with overseeing security in the underground complex in The Rose Vol. 1. Sanos has grown tired of his species alliance with the human race. He’s primal, cerebral, anarchic, manipulative, and devious. And when he gets a taste of the new blood resulting from the pharmaceutical concoction developed to destroy grey matter in the human brain, he turns into a ravaging monster. Sanos is awesome, from the first time we meet him until the very end. He’s the villain readers will cheer for kind of a cross between the Joker and Hannibal Lecter.

What kind of reader is your book for?

Anyone who enjoys an intelligent high-powered mythology based, gory, action pumping escapist literature. Sci-fi fans, horror fans, vampire fans, ancient alien theorists, and readers who enjoy depth, lore, and who can break away, raise the ceiling, and crack the bubble of conformity.

How would you describe your style?

Fast paced, detail oriented with vivid descriptions that kidnap the reader into a world where they prefer hanging out in because it’s just so much damn fun and satisfying on all levels. Why would anyone want to live in a third dimensional reality anyway?

What is your writing process?

I write in the morning. First is reviewing what was written the day before, then I add music, mood music to be exact, depending on what musical inspiration I need for the upcoming scene I’m writing that day. Could be Led Zeppelin, Janice Joplin, or The Stones, or it could be Beethoven; it really depends on the scene. Then I crack my skull open and allow all the demons, rage, little angels, and metaphors to spill out all over the keyboard.

How would you define your evolution as a writer?

Considering my love of in depth character analysis, historically I’ve been more of a classic literature type of writer. Long descriptions, less action, more of a literary type of writing style which has transformed over the years into fast paced action that hits hard with metaphors, in depth character and plot development and vivid descriptions that turn the gut with a satisfying reading experience. People say when reading a PD novel you always get more than expected.

What would be your advice to new authors?

Write what you know and love but write to market, build your social network and be consistent with it and most of all know what type of marketing fits your personality. If you don’t like Facebook master another marketing source.

Which one is the mistake you would avoid now, looking back in time?

Don’t stop. Continue to build momentum. A writing career is a marathon not a sprint. I’ve published books before and then dropped the marketing aspect (mostly because of other responsibilities and businesses I was operating), but if I’d been consistent with marketing I’d be way ahead of the game by now.

What is your favourite quote?

“To examine the causes of life we must first have recourse to death.” ~ Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein

Do you have a favourite artist?

No favourites, we are all equal. I put no one on a pedestal.

Where can you readers find you?

Everywhere! Stalk me all you want, I can take it.

What is the best time of the day for you to write?

Early morning, hopefully before the sun comes up.

Can you tell us something about your next book?

Golem is a horror thriller, currently in the content editing phase of the publishing journey. For those who don’t know a golem is based on Jewish folklore and is a spirit that incarnates inside of a statue, usually clay, although I used marble in the novel.

The story setting is late 1940’s to early 1950’s New York City and follows the young and naive John Ashton after he receives a promotion to be a detective in the departments missing persons unit.

His first assignment is a cold case (not that cold really, just a few years) that involves the new district attorneys missing daughter.

Unfortunately for John, his only lead is Alena Francon, a high society New York socialite, artist, and sculptor who has been a patient at Bellevue’s Psychiatric facility for the last six months.

Alena filed a report indicating that she knows the whereabouts of the DA’s daughter and when Ashton arrives to question her about the claim, she tells him the story of Golem, a demonic presence from the far reaches of the universe, a hellish place of damnation called Xibalba.

Alena admits to incarnating Golem into a statue she sculpted from marble in late 1947, and he’s causing havoc among the social elite while infiltrating every aspect of New York’s infrastructure.

He also uses orphans to help him take control, sending them out to homes as the Black Eyed Kids in an effort to indoctrinate and possess those who hold power in the city. Golem is set for a late September or early October 2021 release.

The Rose Vol. 2 will also be published in 2021, more than likely with a summer reléase date.

Is there any project you had to give up on?

I had been writing a book tilted Celestial Silence for a few years. The story was about a man who falls asleep in heaven and wakes up in hell. Unfortunately, I had to put the story to bed although I have used multiple aspects of this novel in The Rose series.

Thank you!

A masterful, dystopian science fiction thriller of, telepathic evil greys, mysterious rebellion, martial arts, and Alien Vampires.

Sandy Cox believed WWIII was over. But for those Alien Vampires, War Has Just Begun.

Forty-eight hours after a World War III treaty is signed, Sandy Cox awakens in an underground compound unable to move. Tied to machines she screams for help but no one answers. At least no one human.

And they’ve taken her unborn child.

Phil is a rebel freedom fighter who has had more than his share of Alien Vampires. Armed with THE BLADES, a sacred alien martial art, he enters the compound on a mission to find Sandy. But as he battles through the compound, Phil discovers Sandy has her own agenda. Finding her stolen child is all that matters.

But the vampires have their own plan and Sandy’s baby is at the heart of their diabolical plot. Joined by a crew of rogue soldiers, they must navigate the underground compound, battling genetically mutated humans, aliens and monsters.

When battling Alien Vampires, one thing is certain…Get Ready To Bleed!

Fans of The Hunger Games, George RR Martin, VE Schwab, Star Wars, and Ancient Aliens will be fascinated by this high-powered, intelligent, edge of your seat dystopian sci-fi action thriller.

“Forget what you know about vampires and prepare to get a new bite from the tastefully different rules in The Rose Vol. 1. Bringing a new twist to a well-known genre is usually a risk, but PD Alleva has found a brilliant way to make it work. The Rose Vol. 1 is a fantastic recommendation for fans of vampire, fast-paced action, heart-racing, and dark-themed novels.” ~ Readers Favorite

And loads of other amazing reviews!!!

From Amazon customers:

“In a dystopian world, aliens have taken over the planet and humans are imprisoned and kept in a zombie-like state. Only the last few free humans remain on the run, trying desperately to escape the invasion. Sandy and Phil are two of these last surviving rebels and Sandy is pregnant.
But the aliens are closing in…
And did I mention that they are blood-sucking vampires with a diabolical plot for the unborn child? Eek!
PD Alleva has masterfully woven these two classic genres together in a wonderfully original and well-planned tale. there are different types of aliens, some with psychic powers. There are well-constructed battles and action aplenty as good guys are captured and begin a desperate fight for Sandy’s baby and their freedom. Did I mention spaceships? I love them.
I would have liked a glossary as there were quite a few characters to keep track of in this expansive tale but overall I found it very engaging. Thrills a minute and full of surprises.

Recommended for fans of fantasy, sci-fi, aliens, vampires and action adventures, in other words, pretty much everyone. Give it a try. 4.5 stars from me.”

“Not my normal read. But the author made this story interesting. Glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone and read it. Will look to read more.”

“I enjoyed this story even though its not my normal read , The author knows how to spin a story for all to enjoy”

“I wasn’t sure how I felt about alien vampires, at first, but they DID NOT disappoint! This book was a non-stop, action rollercoaster of crazy from cover to cover and I dig it! It was AWESOME!”

“This book is awesome, I love a good SF book and this has it all. I like to support authors who don’t have a huge following. That’s where you find the best stories. This is no exception!”

“The Rose is a unique dystopian tale set at the end of a world war. I loved the description of the telepathic abilities. You really get a sense of how these powers function and the logic of how they fit into this universe. You can tell that the author lives in this world and cares about the mechanics of it.

The characters are also handled with this level of sophistication and care. They breathe and inhabit this world a way that you could easily imagine yourself inhabiting it. They’re decisions, be they self-serving or altruistic, are relatable.

I loved that we got the antagonist’s perspective as well. I’m always a fan of understanding why the antagonists believe they are in the right. And the author does a great job of relating their intentions.

This book is another great read from P.D. Alleva and I look forward to reading more of his work in the future.”
