Horror book review by Jay Whales – Like Real by Shelly Lyons

Like Real by Shelly Lyons was received directly from the publisher and I chose to review it. Have you ever read a book in the “bizarro” method of writing? These books are generally non-stop action and very creative in their word play. I used to read a lot of bizarro authors, however I dont know if they stopped writing them or if they are harder to find. This book is written in this fashion and started reading and rarely put it down.

This mind-bending body horror rom-com is a rollicking Cronenbergian gene splice of Idle Hands and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. It’s freaky. It’s fun. It’s LIKE REAL.

If you read my reviews, you know I make it a rule to not delve into plot lines of the book, since most every other reviewer does that. This book has few reviews, at the moment anyway, so I will copy and paste what the publisher wants the reader to know about the book: “Vic Moss-kenjutsu hobbyist and clueless Lothario-lets vanity dictate his decision to acquire an experimental new-tech prosthesis that promises to evolve into a seamless, realistic looking hand. Instead, it tears from his body, transforms into his clone, and pursues a relationship with the same woman Vic has in his crosshairs-forcing Vic to kill or be replaced.”

If you, or someone you buy gifts for, likes non stop action, romantic comedy, some horror thrown in, please give this book a read.
