I can carve an image into your eyes
colour it with fashionable purpose
With the currency of illusion
I am paid
by those who admire
Words are moulded by
the social pleasantries
of decaying smiles
Pressed further
imprinted on your screen
even after you’ve faded
I can shower affections
emoji confetti
fractured truths
to the unwary traveller
Who will lose themselves
to save me
So, walk my path
with open eyes
and cautioned heart
Seek out
but also, within
I hold the power
but you the switch
