I am a house of glass cards
stacked in perfect symmetry – an illusion of strength
but the smallest breeze of self-doubt is enough to bring me down
and I won’t just fall apart
scattered pieces that can be picked up and built again
I will shatter and shards will cut anyone who tries to fix me
so I am still – unmoving
terrified of trying
to see how far
I can reach
in case I extend
my dreams too high
for my foundation to hold
and all of my worth
comes
crashing
down
