And what is it that compels us
to offer ourselves in sacrifice
to the views of others?
We pace our lives
to the clicks of buttons
but have no idea
what makes us tick?
Confidence is disfigured
by a glance unwanted
Value measured by grams
of strange opinion
If only it were so easy
to weigh ourselves
on the same scales
that they do.
