DARK POETRY – “Beautifully Broken” by Tina McFarlane

You are beautifully broken
Shiny little pieces scattered
Catching the fading light

You are beautifully broken
Your jagged edges will cut
Anyone who isn’t gentle
when they handle you

You are beautifully broken
One can imagine where the pieces
used to fit
when you were whole

You are beautifully broken
Some of those pieces
too small to save
are blown away

You are beautifully broken
They try to mend you
again, and again
to make you like you were before

You are beautifully broken
And one day
you decide
that the only one who can put
you back together
is you

You are beautifully broken
Letting the cracks show
The missing pieces
letting in the light that
had been shut out

You are beautifully broken
Unique
Flawed
Perfect
