BOOK REVIEW – The General’s Daughter by Michael Peirce – Realism and blood, an intense combination.

The General’s Daughter is the fourth book in the Red Dirt Zombies series.

The first factor to mention about this book is that it has a complicated thread. The military background of the author is perfectly shown.

The book starts already in situ, introducing to us the characters that are going to keep us company as a centre of the thread.

The most important element in this book is the strength of the protagonists. All of them face, sooner or later, difficult decisions that might risk the fate of their people.

The scenes are intercalated in a way you dive in every scene, jumping to one character to the other with a good speed. I loved how the author makes use of the characters’ thoughts to follow the line of events.

The book grows faster from the first quarter of the story and never leaves the pace. It’s full of military terms so you will love it if you’re a fan of a realistic style.

I think Peirce made a big work on the background, carefully sewing the details that bring the reader a clear image of the scenario.

The end is intense, not very extended. He doesn’t make you wait for the strong images but they leave a mark nevertheless. Realism and blood, an intense combination.

It definitely makes you want to grab the other books in the series, and if you already are a zombie lover, then you are really going to enjoy it.

A new character joined the GPU and many are worried by the trend towards people like her; “Suzie Creamcheese” she was called and you do not want to fall into her dainty little hands…

The Final Offensive has begun at last and as the New Southern Alliance fights the final battles, it is a time of both triumph and tragedy.

It is a rough time for all of them. Could the tragedies that devastate “Captain Alice” be assuaged by the attentions of the PTSD ridden Alabama Major Dawson Sanders? Can enough of the troops remain sane long enough to get the job done and establish the exclusion area to be designated the “Q-Zone?”
