BOOK REVIEW – The Comfort Zone and Other Safe Spaces by Tom Over – A sinister embroidery that slowly narrows around your neck.

I’m very excited about this book because Tom over is a great author who promises great things.

He was the winner of the contest October Terror 2018. And his winning story received a lot of love by an audience of 3,000 people in one month. This must tell you something about his gift.

This book is a collection of terrifying stories, all of them disturbing. One after another you get more and more submerged in images you won’t forget. What else could make a horror book —amazing?

You can appreciate every little detail Over sews around the scenes. A sinister embroidery that slowly narrows around your neck. You watch over your shoulder more than once, when you have this book in your hands.

He obviously kept the big one for the last in this collection. You can read the whole book in one go, you don’t realise you’re devouring the stories.

The characters’ thoughts are so realistic and specific that makes you feel you have them next to you. The sensorial elements are always present, which I have the feeling it’s this author’s strong gun.

Over plays with the idea of “shelter” our mind needs, which he turns into a nightmare. I think this veiled fact is what makes everything even more disturbing.

The variety of stories is original and fresh, with twists you don’t expect and more than one laugh.

Tom Over succeeds at building a strong collection, which augurs the solid beginning of a brilliant writing journey in the realms of horror.
