Scream VII Shake-Up: Barrera and Ortega say goodbye to the production

Reports suggest Jenna Ortega won’t be reprising her role in Scream VII. This development follows Melissa Barrera’s removal from the horror franchise due to remarks she made about Israel-Palestine on social media.

Barrera’s comments were viewed as hurtful, leading to her dismissal by Spyglass. She compared Gaza to a concentration camp and raised questions about the media’s one-sided portrayal.

“Western media only shows the [Israeli] side. Why do they do that, I will let you deduce for yourself.”

Spyglass made it clear they won’t tolerate hate speech or antisemitism:

“We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech,”

Ortega had to step away from Scream VII due to conflicts with her Netflix series “Wednesday.” Director Christopher Landon stated the decision wasn’t his.

Meanwhile, “Wednesday” achieved remarkable success, streaming for a massive 341.2 million hours within just one week, surpassing “Stranger Things'” previous record.
